The
Administration Division is responsible for
the continuing support of all other divisions
within the County Attorney's Office. It develops
and implements policies and procedures under
the direction of the County Attorney and is primarily
responsible for budget and finance, personnel,
purchasing and facilities management. Thanks
to the County Attorney's fiscal restraint, the
cost of trying a criminal case in Pima County
is about half the cost of other metropolitan
areas.
An integral part of the Administrative Division
is the Information Technology Unit. During
the past decade, progress in automation has had
a tremendous impact on the efficiency and cost-effectiveness
of the Office. The implementation of our Local
Area Network (LAN) allows the staff to communicate
through e-mail and permits the sharing of information
with other law enforcement agencies, such as
the Sheriff's Office, Superior Court, Tucson
Police Department, the Arizona Criminal Justice
Commission and outside research libraries increasing
the overall efficiency of the office.

The Information
Technology Unit (IT Unit) of the Administration Division
is responsible for two major categories of computer
support
for the County
Attorney's office:
- Installing, servicing, and maintaining the internal
computer network equipment and nearly 400 workstations.
- Developing,
enhancing, and maintaining the many databases,
computer application systems, and web sites used every
day by County Attorney staff, other County agencies,
and the public.
Additionally,
the IT Unit develops and delivers specialized, in-house
training for County Attorney staff to enable
them to make the most efficient and effective use of
computer programs and resources as they perform their
duties.
Finally,
in order to ensure that the County Attorney's computerized
records and files are both complete and
correct, the IT Unit staff conducts continual audits
of the criminal case database.
