Adult Diversion header

The Pima County Attorney’s Office created the Adult Diversion Program nearly 25 years ago. The programs goal is to offer first time offenders the opportunity for rehabilitation instead of prosecution.

The Program diverts defendants from prosecution if they are willing to take responsibility for their actions; make full restitution to their victims ; and complete counseling and /or community service work. If they successfully complete the program, charges are dismissed.

Diversion provides defendants the opportunity to make significant behavioral changes. Failure to complete diversion results in resumption of prosecution.

Goals:

  • Evaluating defendants to determine the most beneficial rehabilitation program.
  • Offering training and rehabilitation in the areas of parenting, job skills, stress reduction, mental health issues, grief counseling, gambling addiction and substance abuse.
  • Ensuring full and scheduled payment of restitution to victims.
  • Reducing the cost to the criminal justice system.
