PCAO Division

The Detectives Division is PCAO’s law enforcement arm. The detectives are highly skilled, Arizona POST-certified, sworn peace officers.They handle thousands of requests each year to ensure prosecutors have the evidence needed for trial. In addition, they maintain our 88-CRIME operations and serve witnesses with subpoenas. They also handle dozens of special investigations and, from time to time, make direct arrests. PCAO detectives also participate as members of multi-agency task forces that include officers from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

PCAO Division

Chief of Detectives

The Chief of Detectives is responsible for oversight and supervision of all law enforcement activities at the Pima County Attorney’s Office. Fabian took over as Chief of Detectives after four years at PCAO working on investigations with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Prior to joining The People’s Office, Fabian had a long and varied career with the Tucson Police Department, where he was a homicide detective, Operations Division captain and Public Information Officer. Born and raised in Nogales, Fabian served in the U.S. Navy before continuing as a Navy Reservist, where he rose to the rank of Chief Master Petty Officer.

88-Crime

The mission of PCAO’s 88-Crime program is to collect crime information effectively from anonymous callers and online visitors and channel the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Our program provides the community an opportunity to assist in the prevention of crime safely and confidentially. As an added incentive, callers and online visitors may be paid up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.

Trial Support Services

Comprised of staff that includes our highly-skilled detectives, the primary focus of TSS is to assist prosecutors and trial teams with case preparation.

Task Force Operations

The experienced detectives within the Task Force Operations Unit work together with a variety of local, state, and federal agencies providing investigations, lectures, seminars, and warrant enforcement.

PCAO Investigators Local Retirement Board

Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.02, this Board hereby states that all notices of the meetings of the PCAO Investigators Local Retirement Board and any of its committees and subcommittees will be posted at the Pima County Administration Building, 130 W. Congress Street, 1st Floor, Tucson, Arizona 85701. The Pima County Administration Building is accessible to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except legal holidays, and on the Committee website: Detective Division – Pima County Attorney’s Office. Such notices will indicate the date, time, and place of the meeting and will include an agenda or information concerning the manner in which the public may obtain an agenda for the meeting.
