#WeekInJustice: Week 202
We are currently in a recruiting and hiring frenzy!! PCAO just welcomed a new crop of prosecutors with a swearing-in ceremony that christened them as Deputy Pima County Attorneys. Meanwhile, attorneys from our Criminal and Civil Divisions set up shop at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where they interviewed upcoming law school graduates who are aspiring to be a part of “The People’s Office.” The next day, our human resources team met with undergraduate students on campus at a separate job fair, they were focused on hiring support staff.

Love of Reading Week is one of our favorite outreach activities. Laura along with PCAO Community Engagement Coordinator Maria Arey and Chief of Detectives Fabian Pacheco stopped by Davis Elementary to read to the kids in both English and Spanish. We were also treated to an awesome performance by the Davis Mariachi Band. We’re looking forward to participating at other schools in the area throughout the rest of the month. Ahh the joy of reading!!!

Laura and our Chief of Detectives Fabian Pacheco participated in this year’s 88-Crime retreat to meet with board members and talk about the needs of our community. The 88-CRIME Board of Directors held their annual retreat to discuss the inner workings of the program. Laura and our Chief of Detectives, Fabian Pacheco met with the team to deepen the discussion, Laura also expressed her appreciation and gratitude for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Our Specialty Court Program Director Nahrin Jabro was invited to a check presentation for Amistades, Inc. our partner in free Narcan distribution. We’re happy to be a part of much- needed efforts to help heal our community while giving lifesaving tools to those battling substance use disorder here in Pima County.

As a new way of communicating our courtroom successes, we have developed a new initiative called “Justice Alerts”. These new alert posts are designed to highlight the hard work of the wonderful folks in our Criminal, Civil and Victim Services Divisions who do everything they can to achieve a fair and just outcome. It’s also a way to let our community know what our teams at PCAO are doing to make Pima County and safer and healthier community. With that, we will also continue to share our trial calendars as well.

To be continued,
Laura
