April Ignacio revitalizes task force on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Southern Arizona. PCAO mourns the loss of Congressman Grijalva.

#WeekInJustice: Week 204

Thanks to the leadership and determination of April Ignacio of Indivisible Tohono, the Southern Arizona task force on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children re-grouped with a powerful meeting, determined to start truly assessing gaps in services here in Pima County that can help address this ongoing and dire emergency.  Here at The People’s Office, we continue to work on identifying enrolled tribal and Nation members who come to us as both victims and defendants, as just one important and challenging step.

Victim Services is in full prep mode for Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, to include National Victim’s Rights Week as well.

Over in the Civil Division, we are helping to troubleshoot ongoing federal actions regarding federal dollars and directives, especially over our environmental departments.

And we are all feeling the loss of Congressman Grijalva yesterday.  Words can’t express, but we put out a statement linked here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DHJ8ba4uOC1/, and further quotes and an historic photo collage of 50 years of public service can be found at the Arizona Daily Star here: https://tucson.com/news/local/collection_2cde26de-d491-11e7-b923-339d59959d11.html#1

All our love and comfort and caring to the entire Grijalva family and extended community.

To be continued,
