#WeekInJustice: Week 216
Sam Brown, our Civil Chief Deputy, his whole team, but in particular Dan Jurkowitz, Bobby Yu, Janis Gallego, and Kyle Johnson and I worked A LOT of puzzles this week.
We’ve made many references here over the years that sometimes it seems like the Criminal Division gets all the news and attention, but truly some of the most fascinating problems, projects, and puzzles are going on inside Civil.
This week alone:
- Several legal memos were needed, and they had to be
- Brilliant, and
- VERY quickly produced under hard deadlines, AND
- They then had to be translated into readable, workable messages for Board members to be able to
- Operate very quickly, AND
- Communicate effectively with their constituents.
In real life, this looks like 10pm edits and 11pm calls and robust, rigorous, rapid-fire debate and decision making. The attorneys and staff in Civil get to be helpers on some of the most challenging problems of the day County-wide, and it’s a pleasure to watch their brains at work.
It’s the People’s Office!
To be continued,
